Known crypto scams to look out for and avoid
Be mindful of 'too good to be true' offers. The cryptocurrency space is new and exciting, yet there are lots of scams and fraudsters that are looking to take advantage of unsuspecting people. If its too good to be true, it usually is.
Beware of "brokers" or "advisors" that approach you or communicate with you. There is no such thing as 'automated' or guaranteed profit. Consider these people as fraudsters. If in doubt, contact us.

Unexpected contact
Someone you don't know contacts you with investment advice or offers:

- crypto service providers that withhold investment earnings for 'tax purposes'

- there is little paper trail for crypto investments you make
- the document describing the crypto investment (sometimes called a ‘whitepaper’) is poorly written, vague or non-existent

Keeping your account secure
Turn on 2 Factor Authentication (2FA)
Two Factor Authentication (2FA) is an extra layer of security for your account.
During certain actions such as creating a withdrawal, the app will prompt you for your current OTP (one time pin). This pin is generated in your Authenticator app that you will set up. The pin changes every 30 seconds, and pins cannot be reused. When the app prompts you for OTP for example during a withdrawal, you must use the current pin shown in the Authenticator app.

Use a unique, strong password for your Cape Crypto account
Always use unique passwords for every online account you have, and do not share passwords from account to another.
When creating a password, it is strongly recommended to use a password manager which takes the work out of creating and remembering new unique passwords across all of your accounts. Google Chrome, Safari and Firefox all offer built in password managers, and you can also use a password manager such as LastPass.
Never share your password with anybody, not even Cape Crypto
We will never ask you for your password. If someone is asking you for your password, consider it fraud and report them to Cape Crypto.
